About Me
Kate’s Artistic Journey
With over fifty years of experience as an educator and instructional designer, I have now dedicated myself to the art of felt making.
My journey is marked by experimentation with diverse materials, including silk, bamboo, linen, and paper.
As an educator I am committed to growth and learning, engaging in research, travel, and workshops around the globe.
Recent Travels
In 2024, I travelled to Austria, Slovenia, and Uzbekistan, where I immersed herself in the traditions of master artisans. These experiences have expanded My knowledge and enriched my artistic practice, allowing me to bring fresh perspectives to my work.
Techniques and Materials
My artistic process is a blend of traditional and contemporary techniques. I dye wool, yarn, and silk to create stunning visual effects, employing a wet felting process that transforms these fibres into unique art pieces.
Materials Used:
- Natural Fibers: An array of wool breeds, silk, alpaca, jute, and recycled textiles
- Techniques: Wet felting, needle felting, weaving, molding, shaping, burning, and tearing

- As an educator for fifty years I have a passion for lifelong learning and teaching.
