Learn Felt Making in Person
Welcome to My Fun-Filled Felt Workshops!
I absolutely love seeing the joy on a student’s face when they create their first piece of felt or perfect a new technique. It’s this sense of joy that keeps me coming back to teaching face-to-face workshops, year after year.
With over fifty years of experience as an educator, I ensure that each workshop is personalized to your needs, equipping you with the skills to continue the craft at home. Most importantly, we create a sense of joy and fun!
My workshops range from simple 1-hour felt flower and brooch sessions to 6-hour workshops for more experienced felt makers using more advanced techniques Here’s what you can expect from each workshop:
Flower Power – Spend a happy hour making felt flowers that can be added to a hat or fascinator or popped on a gift for a friend. This is a great fundraiser or hen’s party workshop!
Basic Felt Making Workshop – Your First Felt Making Project – If you’re totally inexperienced and would like to learn this ancient craft, then this 4-hour workshop is for you. You’ll learn how to expertly lay out your fleece to achieve a fine, even felt, then work with the wool to felt it and control the shrinkage. The result? A personalized placemat and coaster set and the skills to continue your own felt-making journey.
Irresistible – Using Resist in the Felt Making Process – In this 6-hour workshop, you’ll explore the use of a resist to make a market bag complete with felted handles. This workshop is best for students who have completed the Basic Felt Making Workshop or have previous experience in wet felt making.
Felt Hat Making Workshop- Learn how to design and make your own felt hat using luxurious alpaca or merino fibre. This hands-on workshop covers the full felt-making process, resulting in a beautifully finished, wearable hat.
Choose from a range of styles and colours to suit your personal taste and fashion style. With small class numbers, participants receive individual guidance and support throughout the session.
Fibre as an Art Medium- This creative workshop introduces animal and plant-based fibres as versatile art materials. Participants will learn the fundamentals of wet felting, experiment with colour and texture, and use a range of fibres and textiles to design and complete a small artwork suitable for framing. No prior experience is needed
