Over the past two years, my art practice has evolved from creating practical items to experimenting with wall art that reflects my emotional response to the natural environment. As my work has developed, I’ve expanded my materials and techniques, incorporating mixed media such as textiles, fibre, paper, found objects, feathers, as well as embroidery and beads. This allows me to create a dynamic range of textures and visual effects.
As a felt maker, I dye my own wool, yarn, and silk, and experiment with various methods to build texture. I spin, weave, knit, mould, shape, burn, tear, and use a wide variety of fibres—merino wool, alpaca, silk, jute, and recycled materials—all of which I wet felt, needle felt, dye, and spin to create unique works of art.
